The vermilion snapper (Rhomboplites aurorubens), is an abundant species of fish found along the North American coast of the Atlantic Ocean from North Carolina to Bermuda and throughout the Gulf of Mexico to Brazil. The vermilion snapper is often sold as red snapper.[1]

Local names for the fish include the Beeline snapper, B-Liner, California Red Snapper, Mingo, Mutton Snapper[2]
